Genealogy. Rev. J Arthur Kring and his wife are buried there. Rev. Kring was first cousin to my grandfather. His parents are buried in Kansas. He also has a son buried in Fort Scott, Kansas. I wasn’t familiar with the son on my tree, Paul Kring.
In 2014, I took a road trip to Fort Scott and visited the cemetery I asked what they could tell me about Paul. When they buried him, where he was buried, and someone paid the bill for the grave and burial. I found a death notice for Paul shortly thereafter and it was a local newspaper that mentioned his maternal grandmother announced his death. As soon as I saw the name of the grandmother, I knew who his parents were. I found an obit for Rev. Kring as well as some revival services he led around the early 1900s. I checked with the cemetery to make sure he was buried there.
The cemetery went above and beyond. They took photos and sent me copies. The person responding to the e-mail sent me better photos a few days later with better photos and the fact that a distant cousin of Rev. Kring, Rev. Walter Kring, was also buried in the cemetery and included photos of his and his wife’s headstones. Rev. Arthur Kring was an evangelical pastor. I don’t know much about Rev. Walter Kring as he was a distant cousin from one of my ancestor’s siblings.
The Kring line landed in south central Pennsylvania back in the mid-1750s. Since then, their descendants have spread across the U. S. I have found a Kring who lived, married, born, or died in almost every state. I may be missing Alaska, but there are rumors at least one moved there at some point.

Yes it was. It’s a big enough cemetery with over 60,000 listed on Find-A-Grave not counting how many haven’t been added. I was surprised that he took the photos. The first set of photos were good enough, but he didn’t think so and supplied the second set, including the other Rev. Kring who I didn’t know was buried there.
