I don’t care if you watch videos or read articles on social media – YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Twitch, etc. There are plenty of videos and articles you should avoid watching or reading. They range from clickbait – My Definition of ClickBait July 31, 2019 where the vlogger or article writer is luring you in with a video/article supposedly about X, but either it’s about Y or simply full of ads and links to a whole bunch of other topics. I will cover some of those in different blog posts.
For this particular post, I am talking about a specific type of video or article topic. The topic is Tricks that Always Work. I came across several videos and articles where the title included X (number varied between who was posting the video/article) Simple Tricks that Always Work. In some cases, they were psychological tricks, how to persuade anyone, and similar topics. Some were bit more vague with titles involving usually work, almost always, etc.
There’s a well-known saying, exactly who said it is open to debate even though it’s often attributed to a politician
“You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.”
It’s a valid statement no matter who originally said it. That’s why the Tricks that Always Work is misleading; you will have many people who will show you the trick doesn’t work. Although with social media and lamestream media doing such a great job of controlling information, it’s sad how many fall for the misinformation being passed around these days.
I have an ex-friend who was one of the worst liars I ever met. By worst liar, I am talking about both the amounts of lies she made and how badly she was at lying. It was very obvious when she lied as she did it so poorly. It didn’t stop her from lying and she was fast on her feet. If you pointed out a lie, she would have an explanation on why it wasn’t a lie without batting an eye. She would even lie when there was no reason to lie. There may have been some who believed her lies, but I think most people saw through her lies.
On the other hand, I knew another liar who was good at convincing many people they were telling the truth no matter who big a bald-face lie it was. Again, there were some who could see her lies.
