When I lived in Bird City during the anniversary of Kansas becoming a state, the men in town were expected to grow beards. That’s the first time I grew a beard. My beard didn’t turn out well since it was my first, but I wasn’t run out of town for not growing one. Not sure if they would have done it, but the town took certain traditions seriously.
