On Thursday, the former Transaero jumbo jet departed Teruel to start a new life as a freighter with Aquiline International and Terra Avia.
A former Transaero Boeing 747-400, known for its “Caring for Tigers together” livery, has left its home at Teruel Airport to start a new life with Moldova’s Terra Avia.
The jet, formerly EI-XLN, was acquired by Sharjah-based Aquiline International last year, though it has remained in storage at Teruel since the collapse of Transaero in 2015.
The sleeping giant awakens
On 26 May, the reawakened giant departed the storage facility after seven years at around 17:00 local time. After a brief refueling stop at nearby Zaragoza, the jet headed off to Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates to be stored as it likely awaits conversion into a freighter.
