One main logistical challenge appears to be seasonal: early-spring mud that prevents movement of its poorly maintained trucks

Questions remain as to why the approximately 80-kilometre-long Russian convoy is simply staying put north of Kyiv and why Ukraine has yet to fully attack it.

Ukraine does have some air capability, BBC notes, and has been using powerful drones made in Turkey to destroy other Russian convoys. But according to General Sir Richard Barrons, former commander of the U.K. Joint Forces Command, Kyiv simply does not have the military force necessary to destroy a column of this size.

“They’ve been good at attacking the convoy from the front and sides,” he told the broadcaster, but that type of damage would not take out the whole convoy and, in any event, Russia will have air defences around it that could bring down Ukrainian targets.
