I saw this recently on Ancestry – AncestryDNA® Announces More Precise Ethnicity Estimates Powered by the World’s Largest Consumer DNA Network: https://www.ancestry.com/corporate/blog/ancestrydna-announces-more-precise-ethnicity-estimates-powered-worlds-largest-consumer-dna. Longer article. I was notified of the update last week, but I have to jump through so many hoops with Ancestry that I finally saw the update last night. It’s different than my last update.
Last result was February 2021:
England & Northwestern Europe 56%
Germanic Europe 2%
Current result as of this month is:
England & Northwestern Europe 45%
Germanic Europe 16%
As the global leader in family history and consumer genomics, Ancestry® is continuously developing new ways for you to learn about yourself through DNA and empowering you to unlock more discoveries about your family history. While your DNA stays the same, our science is constantly improving to provide more precise and informative ethnicity estimates.
With this update we added more samples to our reference panel, which expands the number and diversity of populations we can compare your DNA to. You may see new regions or changes in your percentages with this update.
Representing the people of the world fairly is our priority. We work with a diverse network of outside scholars and experts to develop and name our ethnicity regions.
