News about Afghanistan & Thoughts of Not Leaving Anyone Behind — The Domain for Truth

The news the last few days that have grabbed my attention is the Taliban take over of Afghanistan including entering into its Capital. I think its safe to say it caught the US and the world by surprise. The United States is trying to evacuate its citizens and have sent thousands of Marines and Army soldiers to help with that.

News about Afghanistan & Thoughts of Not Leaving Anyone Behind

I wasn’t surprised at how quickly the Taliban took over. It was a bad decision by President Biden and his military advisors. History has shown how fast the Taliban could take over and this wasn’t taken into account by anyone high up enough to make the call. Worse, there were plenty of Taliban prisoners left in Bagram that were freed once the Taliban breached Bagram. That will come back to bite the U. S. and NATO in the very near future. Why weren’t these Taliban removed to another location instead of being left behind?

    • You are welcome. I think it was a bad decision all around and not removing the prisoners will come back to haunt the US and NATO. Also, not providing those who supported US and NATO without protection means they are on their own. No doubt someone will point out these people to the Taliban. It didn’t help that plenty of advanced weapons – including helicopters were left in Afghanistan.
