Update on this post – Last Night Had Another Bicycle Flat – June 30, 2021. I spoke to my friend yesterday and he had to order the inner tube from France as it was about $8 cheaper than buying it at Wal-Mart. He showed up this morning with the bicycle. I figured he wouldn’t call and I decided to wait until he showed up before heading out. The tire is metric and it’s a multi-speed bicycle and the back tire was flat which meant getting the right inner tube to fix it. Thankfully, my friend was able to patch the tire as the tire isn’t available at Wal-Mart. Turns out it was a small very thin piece of glass that punctured the tire and inner tube.
I do my best to avoid glass, metal, and other things that can affect my tires. It’s not possible, but I do my best to avoid it when I see things that may puncture tires. A great case is people love to throw glass bottles on the sidewalk which tends to cause issues as they tend to break. It happened the other day and I spent a few minutes trying to clear the glass off the sidewalk to avoid running over it.
