I didn’t know her – Samantha Russell, but she was killed in Wichita on July 6, 2021 by someone running from the police. The baby was close enough to term the baby was delivered alive. Here’s her obituary – https://www.smithfamilymortuaries.com/memorials/Russell-Samantha/4663207/. Here’s the GoFundMe page: https://www.gofundme.com/f/wsph3-support-for-the-russell-family. The campaign raised over $95,000 of a projected $75,000 goal. A local channel reporting on the situation: https://www.kwch.com/2021/07/09/man-charged-with-first-degree-murder-west-wichita-crash-that-killed-pregnant-woman/. It’s a shame someone running from the police resulted in the death of an innocent person. I think it’s important to keep her husband, the baby, and others in prayers.
I believe it’s important to be aware of our surroundings – be it walking, riding a bicycle, or in a vehicle. That doesn’t mean you can avoid an accident, but it should make us aware of what is going on in the areas we travel. I tend to follow one of several paths, maybe 6 – 12 different routes depending on my decision as I head out.
