Appointment with Cataract Surgeon Update – July 6, 2021

Here’s the latest update to this post – First Appointment with Cataract Surgeon – May 12, 2021

Looks like I have cataracts in both eyes. I am posting this after seeing the surgeon this afternoon. The earliest surgery date available is September 1, 2021. The better eye is getting worse and I may lose sight in it before the surgery happens. I am not concerned as I know things will work out eventually. The follow-up visit is the next day after the surgery. The other eye will be scheduled about a month after the first one or as soon as possible depending on schedule availability.

It may take several months to get new pair of glasses as he wants to see how fast my eye heals. I had eye surgery decades ago – https://www.miamicontactlens.com/conditions/radial-keratotomy-rk/. It included 16 incisions and that can make a difference as it tends to impact the effectiveness of the cataract surgery.

I also noticed my vision is getting worse. It was fine yesterday, but today it was significantly worse.

  1. Len had both eyes done, and didn’t need glasses afterwards. Praying that it will work well for you 🙏

    • I can’t afford the more expensive surgery that’s not covered by insurance. I will still need glasses even after the surgery. I was surprised it took so long to get me into surgery. Hopefully the second eye won’t take as long, but it’s the bad eye so no rush on it. He recommended waiting at least a month for the second surgery.
