WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a scam involving individuals identifying themselves as employees of the Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said the suspects are falsely representing themselves as employees of the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office and telling victims that they have a warrant for their arrest for failing to appear in court as a witness. The suspects then inform the victim they can place a hold on the warrant if they pay a fine.

If I don’t recognize a number, I let it go to voice mail. Having worked for several government agencies, I am used to these scams and don’t respond to the calls.
