I saw this recently on IAJGS – (US) National Archives and Virginia Tech Working on Digitization of Records (IAJGS Public Records Access Alert): https://aotus.blogs.archives.gov/2021/04/08/exploring-the-future-together/. Much longer article. but here are some of the relevant portions.
The University Libraries at Virginia Tech and (US) National Archives (NARA) are working on a collaborative project to increase the collection of government records in NARA’s digital catalog (https://catalog.archives.gov/).
A series of virtual workshops have been conducted in April and early May as a result of an Andrew Mellon Foundation planning grant.
NARA started digitizing records in 2015 and not has over 120,000, 000 million records digitized.
