I worked out some of the quirks for the new laptop – Update to New Laptop – January 2, 2021. I am able to boot it up faster. Some of the quirks appear to be WordPress related or maybe laptop related. Sometimes it won’t let me change time from AM to PM if I am scheduling a later post on WordPress for the next day. Usually saving it as a draft solves that issue. Same for trying to use a Tag. It will show Tags once I type in 3 first letters, but if I don’t save it as a draft first, it often won’t let me choose a Tag. This one tends to be a regular problem although sometimes I am able to get around these issues without much hassle.
I am learning to work around some of the other quirks. I need to get a USB mouse that is rechargeable which will help some of the issues. I appreciate it has a 10-key pad built in and I have Home, End, Page Up, and Page Down keys.
I installed Chrome. Haven’t installed Firefox yet or a few other things as my friend was in a hurry when I was doing the installs and updates. I am hoping to install CCleaner, Firefox, and a few other things in the near future.
It’s nice to be able to use it without being plugged in as my last laptop was purchased used and the battery was shot when I purchased it. Bit cold out to use it outside now, but once it warms up enough, I have about 5 – 7 hours use before needing a recharge, depending on how much I do.
It’s been a learning experience and no doubt I will find new quirks as I use it more. I have another set of friends that sometimes let me use their Wi-Fi connection where I should be able to update and add things.
This is my first 1 TB hard drive laptop and the only computer I have ever owned that has 8 GB RAM.
