Update to New Laptop – January 2, 2021

It took over 3 hours to update. I verified it worked before leaving my friends’ place by restarting it. When I made it back to another place, it took a while for it to boot up, over 45 minutes with several attempts to log-in. It accepted the log-in password, but would hang with the black screen of death. I could see and move the cursor, but it never completed the log-in I had to restart it several times before I did something different. Once I went that route, it booted up faster. I will try it again tomorrow to see if I need to follow the alternative procedure for booting up.

I even tried choosing a different sign-in option using my original sign-in and it still didn’t work. It has 8 GB RAM installed with 7.75 GB RAM available. It’s supposed to be a 500 GB hard drive, but when I click on This PC it shows 930 GB hard drive with 886 GB available. Going to get interesting when I get close to 400 GB hard drive memory used.

I let the store I purchased it from the issues I had with updating it and the log-in problems. I will never buy this brand again from anywhere. I will still shop where I purchased it, but will go with a different brand next time.
