Internal Revenue Service Started Direct Deposits for Second Stimulus Check Yesterday; Started Mailing Out Paper Checks Today – December 30, 2020

I saw an article yesterday where the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) started direct deposits yesterday and would be mailing out the first paper checks today. These are the $600 checks. If Congress can agree on upping the checks to $2,000, then another check for the difference will be sent out the same way as these checks are being sent out. No word on if both parties will agree to the increase to $2,000. Both parties have drawn lines in the sand for what it takes to get the increase passed. While the increase may or may not happen, or can be raised again once the new Congress is sworn in. Hard to say how things will play out at this point.

Checked with my financial institution about an hour ago and I haven’t had a direct deposit yet for the stimulus check. It may take a few days to get direct deposited. I am in no rush as I have enough money to tide me over.
