In this case, about a week ago, I thought about friend and former co-worker who I hadn’t thought about since 2013. I was attending his sister’s funeral in 2013. I didn’t realize he was related to her as I served with her husband in one of my AmeriCorps terms. I didn’t know her very well and I was surprised to see my friend there. That’s when he told me she was his sister. In my experience when the Lord lays a person I haven’t thought about in a while, that’s a sign I need to pray for them. I don’t know the need, but the Lord does. My friend had services recently, but I did not attend his funeral. I know where he will be buried or entombed. It’s the same cemetery where his sister and mother are entombed. I will visit in a few days as it’s far enough out that I will need a ride to the cemetery. I contacted the funeral home to see where the funeral was being held. I knew the ceremony was at a local church house, but the church house and funeral home did not list where the funeral was going to take place. I called the funeral home and they gave me the name of the cemetery.
I pray for other people as well, even those I think about on a regular basis. My niece started his 10th radiation treatment yesterday. I know several other people who are going through cancer treatment right now. One includes a classmate from high school. Growing up I lived on Ambulance Road. That’s not the name of the street, but it was a direct route to the hospital and all hours of the day and night, I would hire ambulances rushing to the hospital down this street. I include family, friends, my blogger and vlogger “family” as I consider you part of my family. In some cases, I know the need because someone blogs or vlogs about a specific need. At other times, I do a general prayer. In one case, a blogger has a child that tried to commit suicide not too long ago. I kept her and her family in my prayers as I am too familiar with knowing people who succeeded at the task.
I made the point of re-blogging a post about checking on people – Check-in with People This Winter — Sweeney’s Blogs. I live alone, but I have a few people who would check on me if I didn’t keep in touch with them on a regular basis. As I post or comment on Facebook and Like posts, that’s a sign I am still around.
What a prayer warrior
