Blame my uncle. I didn’t know he was in it until doing genealogy. He joined in 1940, was stationed in the Pacific during the war. In the war, it came under Navy control. He had a daughter born in Hawaii after the war. He was a high ranking NCO when he retired. He died in 2008. I think he and his wife are buried on their land, but don’t know their children well enough to ask.
