Sure some of them didn’t work which is why they only made one proto-type or realized it wouldn’t work before designing one.
I am sure every country has tried designs that didn’t work. I remember the Japanese battleship/carrier combination during World War II. Only made a couple. I had a model of one of them. Sounded great in principle, but as the Japanese chose not to ke.
