Yesterday I saw an article where a driver tried to beat a train. End result driver died and passenger seriously injured.
Back in 1996 or 1997, I saw a train wreck about to happen. Eastbound train, southbound semi, we were northbound. Our gate and lights had not activated. The semi was caught as the crossing gate came down in between the cab and the trailer.
This was around 1 P. M. We were about 6 blocks away when we heard the crash. The driver had minor injuries. When I was going home about 7 P. M., the train still had traffic blocked off.
I believe the driver opted to exit the vehicle before the train ran into it. The cab was in bad shape.
