Newest Bundle of Holding Fudge Bundle – September 7, 2020

I received this e-mail from Bundle of Holding today – Fudge Bundle. It’s a freeform Role-Playing Game (RPG). It’s a game I haven’t played, but here’s the Wikipedia article on the game: It uses Fudge dice – d6 with +, -, or blank as the possible results. You have two of each +, -, or blank. You can achieve the same thing using regular d6 – see the Wikipedia article link.

There is an update if you purchased the Jovian Chronicles back when it was first offered or the revived bundle. They added two new titles. These have been added to your bundle for free if you have one of the Jovian Chronicles bundles.

Time to fudge it with our new Fudge Bundle — through MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28

Adventurer! You subscribed to this Bundle of Holding mailing list to receive news of our pay-what-you-want collections of tabletop roleplaying game .PDFs and RPG-related ebooks at

Today is your last chance to get our Goodman 5E Fantasy Bundle, featuring the Fifth Edition Fantasy line of full-length 5E adventures from Goodman Games. This comprehensive bargain-priced offer gives you all 17 5E modules, a sprawling collection for character levels 1 through 12. Aside from their great maps, thorough room descriptions and stat blocks, and bounteous new spells and magical items, we like these scenarios for their great titles: Fey Sisters’ Fate, Glitterdoom, War-Lock, Eye of the Leviathan, The Archmage’s Lost Hideaway, The Drowning Caverns of the Fish God, and more. Really, presenting a book called “Drowning Caverns of the Fish God” pretty much justifies the Bundle of Holding’s whole existence. This fine collection is a US$119 retail value for just about $27.50 — but this Goodman 5E Fantasy offer vanishes into the 13th-level depths tonight!

We’ve added two new titles to our revived March 2018 Jovian Chronicles Bundle featuring the Dream Pod 9 SFRPG of 23rd-Century hard-sf/anime action — “The Expanse but with mecha.” The 1997 Jovian Chronicles 1E Rulebook uses the same Silhouette Engine rules system seen in the Second Edition that supplanted it later that same year. Some fans of the Jovian line still recall the 1E rulebook fondly. In a completist spirit, we’ve added the original to this revival’s Starter Collection. And new in the Bonus Collection is Ships of the Fleet V4 – Venus Fleet, with precise and detailed spacecraft descriptions for the spacecraft of the Cooperative Venusian Naval Administration (CVNA).

If you’ve already purchased this Jovian Chronicles offer, either recently or during its original March 2018 run, you get both these newly added books automatically on your Wizard’s Cabinet download page and in your DriveThruRPG Library. When you buy a Bundle of Holding early, you never worry about missing a book added later — even much later. Just visit your Wizard’s Cabinet on the Bundle site so our system can add these new titles to your DTrpg Library.

Through Monday, September 28 we present the Fudge Bundle, featuring indie RPGs based on Steffan O’Sullivan’s rules-light game engine Fudge.

Fudge, the precursor of Fate, is a customizable toolkit that supports every setting you can imagine. Its word-based trait scale and simple action resolution make it ideal for novices and flexible enough to satisfy experienced roleplayers. Fudge is historically important, too, as one of the first rules systems released under an open game license. [The name “FUDGE” was once an acronym for Freeform Universal Donated (later, Do-it-yourself) Gaming Engine and, though the acronym has since been dropped, that phrase remains a good summation of the game’s design goals.]

The Fudge rules adapt easily to any other RPG’s campaign world — and, of course, to your own creations. As Gamemaster, you choose attributes and skills that match the genre and play style. A simple Fudge game might get by with only two attributes, or dispense with attributes entirely and define abilities by skills, gifts, and faults. Or you might want six attributes, or ten, or more. The skill-driven system supports broadly defined skill groups or fine-grained individual skills, or mix-and-match as you like.

Task resolution uses normal six-sided dice — or, optionally, special Fudge Dice — to determine how well characters perform any action. Results describe degrees of success or failure in words — from Superb down to Terrible. Alternative rules allow d20s or percentile dice. The word-based system lets you easily translate any campaign world or adventure written in Fudge into any other system, and vice versa. As a “universal translator” of gaming systems, and released under the Open Gaming License, Fudge can provide an excellent foundation for any game designer.

This bargain-priced offer marks the debut in .PDF of several Fudge-based titles that are not yet available anywhere else. Pay just US$12.95 to get all five complete games in our Starter Collection (retail value $69) as DRM-free .PDF ebooks:

  • The comprehensive 318-page Fudge 10th Anniversary Edition rulebook, debuting in .PDF in this offer.
  • Psi-punk: Cyberpunk meets psionics in this alternate world of ghosts, psiborgs, technomancers, and soul jackers. (Previously in our February 2015 IGDN Bundle.)
  • Hack-n-Slash, a low-prep dungeon-crawl RPG you can be up and playing in minutes. Includes the Hack-n-Slash GM Screen.
  • The Orb, a colorful fantasy RPG with expanded rules for magic and miracles.
  • Survival of the Able, a haunting horror adventure of disability and hope in a worldwide pandemic — of zombies.

And if you pay more than the threshold (average) price, which is set at $24.95 to start, you’ll level up and also get our entire Bonus Collection with seven more titles worth an additional $97:

Ten percent of your payment (after gateway fees) goes to this Fudge offer’s pandemic-related charity, Direct Relief. Direct Relief gets protective gear and critical care medications to health workers, with emergency deliveries daily to medical facilities across the US and to regional response agencies across the world.

Fudge RPGs use Fudge Dice, available from Grey Ghost Press, from Evil Hat Productions (as “Fate Dice”), at hobby gaming stores, or from Amazon (affiliate link).

Get this Fudge offer before it’s eaten away Monday, September 28.
