I spent several hours last night trying to find more information on this week’s Mississippi Mondays post Kemper County Historical Museum , De Kalb – Mississippi Mondays August 24, 2020. I expected it would take maybe 1 – 2 hours to find this museum and the various links I usually found. I spent at least 6 hours trying to find an address to the museum. All I have is a road name which is a short road, but there is an older road name that is very long. Plus, the older road name changes names along the route. The one photo I see has it very close to the road, probably 10′ or less and not covered by a lot of trees. I chose to do a street view on the newer road as it’s not that long. I did a satellite view of both roads and didn’t see anything that remotely looked like the museum.
I called the number listed for the Chamber of Commerce that makes appointments to visit the museum. It was forwarded to an automated voice mail and I haven’t heard back from anyone yet. I e-mailed someone who blogged about the museum a few years back. She didn’t remember the address, but will look and see if she has something she kept with the address. I also contacted the local historical association on their Facebook page, but no response yet.
It’s been a bigger challenge than I imagined when I started the post yesterday. I am still hoping someone can give me an address to the museum. I saw a couple of photos that included nearby buildings that had distinctive roofs, but so far staying within De Kalb hasn’t yielded anything. I tried going down the Old Jackson Road a long way using Street View and haven’t come across anything.
I will update the above link with an address once someone gives me more information or the actual address.
