I noticed last night that several media sites were giving the curren poll results for the Final Five on the Mississippi flag. You can vote at: https://www.mdah.ms.gov/flagpoll-top5. I saw the article on the Clarion Ledger – Mississippi flag poll: Preliminary numbers are in. Find out which flag leads the pack.: https://www.clarionledger.com/story/news/local/2020/08/22/mississippi-flag-poll-preliminary-numbers/3409976001/ At the time I saw the article, the first flag, the Great River Flag, was in first place with 37% of the vote, about 16% ahead of the second place contender. You can see the Great River Flag choice in the MDAH flag poll link above. It’s the only flag that doesn’t have a magnolia flower or tree in the design.
Not to be outdone, I noticed this article today asking if the Mississippi flag designs would make good tattoos – https://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory/mississippi-flag-designs-make-good-tattoos-72540362. The article addresses some issues about the strengths and weaknesses of each flag design without going into more detail about which flag would be a good or bad tattoo choice. The five designs all include a star made of diamond shapes to honor Choctaw heritage.
The panel has tweaked each design to include a star made of diamond shapes to reflect Choctaw heritage. By law, the new flag also must display the words “In God We Trust,” a provision that persuaded some conservative legislators to retire the Confederate symbol.

Unless they vote it down. In which case, the flag commission will have to come up with a new design.
