Updated after posting: was able to access the Classic Editor finally using the WP Admin option.
This seems to be only the part of WordPress that slows down significantly when I am trying to re-blog a post or add a new post. If I am trying to see what posts I have posted or scheduled, the slowdown isn’t there. Same if I view the WordPress Reader. It also doesn’t spill into other websites as I have no problem quickly loading other websites that normally load fast. So far, the WordPress app on my phone hasn’t forced me to use the new Editor, but I think it’s only a matter of time before it does.
Thank you to Renard – https://renardsworld.wordpress.com/2020/08/20/the-block-editor-is-getting-lots-of-hate/ for letting me know where to find word count. His response is in a comment to another blogger. It’s the circled i at the top of the screen.
Looks like several hours later, adding a new post is still a slow and tedious process. I really don’t like having to save draft on a regular basis. It looks like it auto-saved a little bit ago which is the first time it has done it automatically for me.
I don’t know if any of the WordPress hosting companies like BlueHost, GoDaddy, etc. have figured out a way to help bloggers out, but I am to the point where WordPress is not being user friendly.
