First post with the new Editor – apologies if something doesn’t work.
When I went to schedule my next post this morning, I noticed the link was different. Checked my e-mail and WordPress e-mailed me about half hour earlier that I was now on the new Editor.
If they are wanting me to upgrade from a free account to a paid account, forcing me to change editors is not the way to convince me I should spend $96.00/year on a Business Plan. All it does it make me re-think upgrading to the Business Plan.
I did notice the re-blog yesterday What You Should Do Now That WordPress Have Officially Retired The Classic Editor — Hugh’s Views & News — From Cave Walls which showed me I could choose Classic Editor. I tried changing to the new editor last night, but thought I had a few days to experiment with it before they dumped it on me.
If they are smart, they will be rolling it out in waves in case there are problems they aren’t expecting. Should be interesting to see if they went with that option. I am not liking how things I used to be able to do have been moved around. For example, I don’t see word count listed at the bottom of my screen. It was there although I had to squint as it was hard to see. Also, will be curious to see if the blocks increase how much space a post takes up compared to the old system.
This is definitely going to affect when I do re-blogs or do my theme posts as they require a fair amount of copy/pasting. Thankfully, I usually do the copy post option when possible. Going to see if that’s still an option or not.
LinkedIn and Facebook tend to disconnect themselves on a regular basis from WordPress. I was able to reconnect Facebook last night, but it took a while as it refused to reconnect until I disconnected it first. I hadn’t reconnected LinkedIn since it last disconnected itself and WordPress wouldn’t let me post until I reconnected it. I decided to disconnect LinkedIn as it has a lot more issues staying connected than most other social media I connect. I may wind up doing something similar with Facebook if it keeps having issues. Thankfully most of my social media followers are on Twitter and I almost never have to re-connect Twitter.
Any advice from people who do a lot of copying posts or copying text is greatly appreciated. I will be using mostly Classic Block for now unless something doesn’t work where I have to choose another option.
