Apparently We Are Supposed to Eat While Wearing Masks – July 8, 2020

This was a few hours earlier, but I was at my favorite cafe eating. In fact, the only other customer was also eating. The employees were all masked up. A couple of people come in and start making derogatory comments about how we weren’t wearing masks. Then, they storm out continuing to make derogatory comments. I am not going to try eating with a mask on, much less take a bite, put my mask on, then wait until I am about to take another bite and take my mask off again. I know of a couple eating places in the area where the regional chains aren’t enforcing social distancing. At my restaurant, there is social distancing in place.

When I am outdoors and in a venue where social distancing is being observed, I may not wear a mask. However, most places in the city there are enough people not practicing social distancing that I wear a mask. Anytime I go to a big box store, I wear my mask as maybe 25 – 50% of the customers follow social distancing on a good day. When I go to my favorite convenience store, I also wear a mask as the store’s aisles aren’t big enough to allow social distancing.

  1. I wondered about this. Makes no sense to me. I really wish others would stop trying to judge & control strangers. It’s absolute crazy. They don’t know what’s going on but they are so indoctrinated by media to be “triggered” when they see someone not in compliance to wear a piece of cloth that does not keep out any germs of any kind.
