Be Careful Traveling this Week-end – July 5, 2020

I am including tomorrow and the next few days as some are heading home after the weekend.

It doesn’t matter how good a driver you are as much as it matters how inattentive, in a hurry, or otherwise preoccupied other drivers are. As someone who walks and rides a bicycle, I stopped counting how many near misses I have had because a driver was too busy paying attention to something other than the road.  When I drive, I don’t text, I ignore incoming phone calls and texts, don’t use the radio, and pay attention to what’s going on around me. Why? Because I like to increase my odds of making it where I am going in one piece. It would be nice if others had the same attitude and paid attention to driving.

I was at a traffic light waiting for it to turn green. The driver was busy screaming loudly at someone on the phone. She continued to do so when the light turned green. She was so emotional she wasn’t paying attention to other people. This was an accident waiting to happen.
