WordPress Quirkiness – June 20, 2020

For the last few hours, WordPress has shown I had 0 published posts and 0 draft posts. I tried numerous things to refresh the issue, but it took over 5 hours to solve it. I would have contacted the Happiness Engineers, but I don’t see them doing much, other than having me do things I had already tried. In an interesting twist, when I went to the Statistics tab, it showed I had 0 Views today, but 21 Likes and 1 Comment. Pretty impressive for 0 Views. I have over 6,080 posts as of earlier today. over 500 Drafts, 10 Scheduled Posts.

Then, there’s another quirk of WordPress. When I go to load a post through the WordPress Reader, it sometimes takes several minutes to load. This is on my laptop which is hooked up to a fast Internet connection. It’s not a case of a post that’s full of large MB photos as I expect those to load slower than a regular post that doesn’t have photos, charts, or other things that slow down page loading.

I am a bit behind on scheduling due to not being able to see how many posts I made today, but should be caught up in a couple of hours once I figure out what has and hasn’t been posted.

That doesn’t even cover when I schedule a post and for whatever reason, either WordPress schedules it later in the month or next month. In those cases, if I know something has been scheduled and it doesn’t show up when I scheduled it, I go looking for the post. In rare cases, it schedules the post to an earlier time or day in the month. I do my best to check the date and time, but sometimes WordPress has a hiccup and shows it should be posted at the correct time and date, but some glitch causes it to post at a different time or date.
