I mentioned this briefly in Genealogical DNA Testing Companies and Current DNA Sales May 23, 2020 near the top. Decided it was a good article for this week’s DNA Saturdays post. There are some restrictions on some of the below tests. FamilyTree DNA (FTDNA) doesn’t have the restrictions. It appears that Sequencing.com does not have the restrictions.

TeloYears offers 2 COVID-19 tests for sale; discount if you buy both together; they are only available for bulk orders right now. We currently offer COVID-19 rRT-PCR testing by shipping collection kits in bulk to qualifying organizations such as clinics/physician practices, city and state governments, hospitals, nursing homes, employers, and health plans. Vitagene offers a COVID-19 test if you qualify. However, you will need to meet the requirements to qualify for the test which aren’t easy. Sequencing.com offers a free Coronavirus Health Assessment and a paid $34/use COVID-19 Severe Outcomes Genetic Analysis. FamilyTree DNA (FTDNA) offers a CCR5 test for $39; if you have the mutations, you are a lot less likely to get COVID-19; it’s not a guarantee.

Starting with Vitagene – https://vitagene.com/covid19/test/. It mentions purchasing a test, but doesn’t say how much the test will cost. I made two attempts to discover the price, but neither was successful.

Moving on to Sequencing.com – https://sequencing.com/coronavirus-prevention-dna-health-report for the free Coronavirus Health Assessment; for the $34/use test – https://sequencing.com/covid-19-severe-outcomes-genetic-analysis.

You can take a free Coronavirus Health Assessment and a paid $34/use COVID-19 Severe Outcomes Genetic Analysis.

For TeloYears, they offer two tests; cheaper if you order both together. However, they do mention the requirements to order the first test. For the first test: COVID-19 Testing (rRT-PCR): https://www.teloyears.com/home/covid.html $139; nasal swab test. For the second test: COVID-19 Antibody Test: https://www.teloyears.com/home/covid-antibody.html $129 blood draw. Both tests are $229 The tests are not available in New York or Maryland. The second test only tells if you have the antibodies indicating you have been exposed to COVID-19. If you are currently infected and don’t have the antibodies yet, it won’t show you are infected. The tests are only available for bulk orders right now.

I covered FamilyTree DNA (FTDNA)‘s CCR5 test in a recent post – Once More Into the Breach with FamilyTree DNA – May 22, 2020. If you have the mutations, you are a lot less likely to get infected with COVID-19https://learn.familytreedna.com/test-types/ccr5-test-genealogical-test/. The test is $39. The mutation(s) show up in those of European descent. Not to say they won’t show up in non-Europeans, but the rate in Europeans is 5 to 14%.
