Elixir is not a commonly used word. In looking at the word’s history, I noticed how some Asian alchemists created elixirs of life that were made of poisonous ingredients. If I had been the ruler, I would have requested them drink a healthy dose from the same cup they made for me and waited 30 minutes to see if it killed them. If they weren’t willing, I am not drinking it.
To me, the only true Elixir of Life is the Lord. It’s your choice to accept or reject Him.
I don’t believe the attempts to lengthen life pushed by researchers will ever yield results. No doubt, some may claim success, but they won’t be able to prove it. A good example is accidents. I could have great genes that indicate long life. Along comes some inattentive driver caring more about texting or talking on the phone, next thing I know I am pushing up daisies because they weren’t paying attention to the fact they were about to hit me.
When it’s your or my time to die, we will. We are all born with an expiration date.
