Coriander or cilantro’s scent is something I try to avoid. I have enough DNA markers for Cilantro tastes like soap. For a while, I wasn’t aware of this phenomenon. I had occasionally noticed a soapy taste while eating out. I don’t eat at dives, or places of questionable cleaning habits.

I think it’s a report on 23andMe that alerted me to the DNA markers for this taste issue. Their report indicated I probably don’t have enough markers to have the issue. Turns out they were wrong. Another example of researchers who wrongly assume too few markers when testing a hypothetical situation. Or relying upon statistics to generate probability estimates. Could be a combination of both.
