Bite was a tough one for me initially. I have a scar on my right shoulder that looks like a bite. In a way, it was a bite, a bite from my shoulder being flung against the passenger side window. The window was up at the time and took offense at me for breaking it. You can read more about it January 14, 1986 – A Day That Changed My Life. The big advantage for me in this case was being half asleep at the time so I didn’t tense up.

Apparently the side window had a secret deal with the hospital I was mid-evac by helicopter. As I was bitten again by a catheter. I was half in shock at the time. Getting the cath inserted brought me full out of shock. It also drew blood which meant an X-ray of my kidneys, followed a week later by UTI. It was cured by antibiotics.

They don’t warn you it’s painful when the cath is removed. My kidneys decided to enjoy the break a bit more. After several days, the doctor threatened to put it back in. I asked for coffee as several cups tends to encourage my kidneys to do what they should be doing without help. Problem solved.
