WordPress Discover Prompts April 2020 Day #9 Pairs

Today’s discover prompt is Pairs – https://discover.wordpress.com/2020/04/09/discover-prompts-day-9-pair/.

From my earlier post – Join Our Discover Daily Prompts in April! — The Daily Post  which has more details on the discover prompts. A search showed today’s prompt is Pairs. Plenty of suggestions for pairs in today’s discover prompt.

This was hard for me as most pairs I initially thought of need two links. As I am on my phone’s Internet  and doing links is not easy, I ruled out those pairs. I will be on my phone’s slow Internet for probably 8 – 10 hours.

The house I spent 5/6 of my first years in compared to the current house I rent where next month will be my 20th year living here.

House #1 was what I call a Cracker Jack house. It was not very wide, probably less than 10 feet across. Originally a 1 bedroom house. Dad later added a master bedroom on the back. This house had 2 adults and 4 children in it. It was around 20 feet long before the second bedroom was added. Its shape was like an I. Starting at the front, living room, next bedroom, next kitchen, next bathroom, and later master bedroom. No garage. No basement.

Current house – 2 bedroom, with attached 2 car garage. Above the garage is a small 1 bedroom apartment rented by someone else. The garage is designed for two compact cars. It has a partial basement. Around 3x as big as house #1, in terms of my space, bit more if I count half the garage.

    • Other than a minor bike issue that should be fixed in a few days, I am doing well. The bike issue has me walking to my favorite Internet cafe which takes 3x as long as riding my bike.

How are you? I know you are busy between church duties and your class.

Bike as in bike bike or motorcycle? I’m doing well been busy with ministry and a lot more with people going through things

      • Bicycle. I don’t have an endorsement for motorcycle on my license. After seeing what happened to a friend who was killed in a motorcycle accident decades ago – he had a helmet, not that it helped, I avoid motorcycles.

Plus, bicycle is much cheaper to fix than a motorcycle. I am hoping to get it fixed in the next day or two. Kansas Summers are not the best time to be walking although I try and leave early or late enough to avoid the worst heat. Normally, I have a friend who could help me with rides, but they are visiting their parents and should be back after the bike is fixed.

Wow sorry to hear about the bike problem. Keep me posted when it’s fix yeah? Is there anywhere you need to go during the days before it’s fix? Also do they have Uber your neck of the wood?

      • They do, but it’s more than I can afford. It is faster than the two cab companies which are cheaper, but tend to put short fares down the list.

I am hoping the tire comes in tomorrow and can be fitted tomorrow. I am not very mechanically inclined so me doing it would be a comedy of errors worthy of a good YouTube video. It’s the back tire; with a front tire, I could do it without a problem, but back tires have chain issues. I have a friend who can do it with his eyes shut and if it’s early enough in the day, he doesn’t mind. We are in the middle of several 100+degree days.

I usually get out and about early enough or late enough to avoid the Heat Humidity Index problems. With my bike, it’s not so bad as it’s a faster trip by a third.

Thought about the bike rental or electrical scooter options, but they aren’t close enough to where I live to make it worthwhile unless a scooter shows up nearby. That does happen on occasion. With the bike rentals, you have to take them back where you picked them up.

I go to my favorite Internet cafe – it’s a stretch for walking, but my normal back-up ride is out of town. For church, I have a church member who will pick me up and drop me home. Normally weather permitting, I ride my bike to church as it’s within my biking distance.

      • It was fixed on Friday the 3rd as my friend picked up the tire on Thursday and brought it over the next day. I had a bike pump so he fixed it at my place instead of taking the tire back to their place.
