The Joys of WordPress – Sarcasm March 26, 2020

I put sarcasm in the title because I think it fits; the sarcasm was directed at WordPress and was pretty mild. Writing the post released the frustration of dealing with the quirks of WordPress. I am on my phone at the moment, typing this post. I checked two hours ago and WordPress said I had no posts scheduled for 9:09 P. M. Imagine my surprise when my last post showed up.

I noticed WordPress on my phones lies to me, both on the app and in a browser window. On my laptop, it tends to be slightly more honest. It still lies, but a lot less. Since I am at home, the phone is my only access to posting. With my phone, I can’t easily see how many posts are scheduled when I am trying to add a new time. With my laptop, I have a good clue, but it doesn’t always work as it occasionally misses some.

My goal is to some day get home Internet back. It’s a low priority as I most likely need to pre-pay a year in advance since I have not had Internet in 5 years. That or a sizeable deposit. I would buy the box from them or somewhere else to save the monthly rental fee. I would go with the cheapest plan as I expect to be back at my favorite cafe once the lockdown is over.

It’s been an exciting experience since I cancelled my good Internet. It has shown me I can meet the challenge of not having good Internet at home to get posts done.

Today was my first stay at home day in weeks. I went to my convenience store for some groceries. Other than that, I was home all day. Weird to not have someone to talk with for most of the day. I interacted with a few bloggers and Facebook friends to see how they are doing. I thought it helped to have some alone time.

    • I am doing well. My Internet situation is unchanged. I tried to go with improving it as the local cable company has a great deal going. I cancelled with them back in January 2015, but for some reason their employee didn’t cancel service and as I wasn’t using it and was on paperless billing, I didn’t realize he didn’t cancel it. Now, they want $143ish for the 2 months they say I owe for. He assured me it was cancelled. I don’t know his reason for not cancelling, but I don’t appreciate his less than honest response. I never got a note from the collection agency that I owed or I would have challenged it back then. I don’t want to fight them as it would cost me to fight them than if I paid the bill they claim I owe as there are other options I could go with. I am not going to pay the bill as I don’t believe in rewarding bad behavior. Still using my phone for home Internet, but since my favorite cafe is open again, I spend a fair amount of using its Internet to do my posts.

How are you doing? I listened to part of your 2013 podcast interview about the Black Israelite group. Going to listen to the rest of it shortly. Hopefully, you, your family, your church family, and friends are doing well.
