Update to Last Ancestry Post – March 25, 2020

In my last post, Ancestry FREE At Home Education — Hound on the Hunt, it’s not the entire Ancestry database by any stretch, but it’s a pretty good chunk of databases. In addition, most libraries require you to be at the library to access Ancestry. In Wichita, I can bring my own laptop and log in using my library card. As a large number of public schools are closed now, including all of the Wichita’s public schools, and will be closed for a fair amount of time, I appreciate Ancestry making at home access available.

If you don’t need regular Ancestry, it’s often cheaper to buy one month at a time. Many people buy one month every 3 or 6 months. Make sure to disable automatically renewal to avoid getting charged the next month. During the months you aren’t subscribed, make lists of what you want to look for when your subscription is active. Also, try to pick months where you are not as busy to maximize your bang for your buck. I had jobs where certain times of the year were very busy and other times where I wasn’t as busy or had less work hours.

A word of caution: Ancestry is frequently down if too many people are using it at the same time. It tends to be hit or miss, or may rely on individual servers having issues as some people rarely have problems.
