Wichita Restaurant and Other Closings – March 17, 2020 My Experience

This afternoon a friend took me out to lunch. I didn’t have access to this list from the local Wichita newspaper at the time: https://www.kansas.com/entertainment/restaurants/dining-with-denise-neil/article241264806.html?. There were plenty of restaurants and fast-food places that were take-out and/or drive-thru only with a few that weren’t open at all. We drove around for 10 miles looking for a place that had inside dining. Not on the above list was On the Border. The dining area was open with a lot of empty tables. Some spots were not available and there were plenty of social distancing between the seated diners at different tables. I saw similar things yesterday when I was riding around after where I was closed the dining area.

Many, possibly all, theaters are closed. The same goes for most other venues – the Zoo, museums, the main library and all its branches the arena, etc.. The public schools (K-12) appear to be closed for the rest of the school year. Believe the colleges and universities are transitioning most in-person courses to online courses where possible. About the only other things not closed are most grocery stores, major retailers, gas stations and convenience stores.
