Battles in Middle Earth – Featured Blogger of the Week February 28, 2020

This week I chose Battles in Middle Earth  as this week’s Featured Blogger of the Week Looks like I started Following him around January 2019.

What is Battles in Middle Earth? – This site has two goals to educate and entertain you with content about Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game/Hobbit Strategy Battle Game/Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game content by Games Workshop.  Additionally, I use it to show off my hobby work, battle reports, and anything else that I think is cool

Who am I? – I am a guy living in Chicago in his 30’s who enjoys painting, making terrain, and playing the different forms of MESBG.  Inspired by some incredible hobbyists out there, I have been working towards painting up and playing some campaigns in the MESBG system.  I try my best to paint and create terrain that looks as good as it can in a reasonable amount of time.  My hope is that inspires others to take up this hobby and achieve whatever goals excite them.

A technical writer by trade, I also love to write so having a website is a natural fit in that regard.  My hobbies include miniature wargaming, reading graphic novels, literature, and history books, playing video games (especially Nintendo and RPG’s), and collecting Non-Sport cards (it fills a collecting itch for an old Magic and Pokemon player!).

    • You are welcome. I enjoy your blog. Been a fan of Middle Earth from the beginning of RPGs and miniatures when Grenadier and I believe Heritage came out with the early LotR miniatures. Owned most LotR RPGs and board games that came out in the 70s and 80s.

That is great to hear and if you ever feel the call of the wargaming hobby again, we’d be happy to have in the Middle Earth SBG community 🙂

      • I lost a lot of my miniatures in moves. Had a few small pieces left. My worst loss was the various Middle-Earth items and knock-offs from the late 70s and early 80s. Never was good at painting miniatures as my middle brother inherited that DNA from our Dad. I do have several sets of rules, including 1st Edition C&S which was pulled after the Tolkien Estate busted them for using LotR stuff without permission.

That is a shame and I’m sorry to hear it! I have seen some of the older miniatures you’ve mentioned and they are interesting and often full of character. Sometimes they are available cheaply on eBay if you decide you’d like to add them back into your collection. Its really cool that you have all of the old rulebooks. Those are likely harder to find than the miniatures themselves!
