Dark Shadows Event 2020 GoFundMe Campaign – February 27, 2020

I ran across this GoFundMe campaign last night after talking with another blogger (see below)Dark Shadows Event 2020: https://www.gofundme.com/f/dark-shadows-event-2020. I was a fan of Dark Shadows when it first came out. I was sad when it ended as it was highly rated for its time slot. However, the network didn’t care about the ratings as they were going for ratings from our mothers and not their children. As a result, it ended unexpectedly and with too many loose ends. This particular GoFundMe is to host a Dark Shadows Cast Reunion. The event is being held by Dark Shadow Cast Reunions, a non-profit. It will cover all versions of Dark Shadows. The goal is $3,000 and they are at $1,124 as of two hours ago.

Dark Shadow Cast Reunions (formerly Friends of the 1991 Dark Shadows/Cast Reunions) is a non-profit organization that are fans of the classic TV show Dark Shadows. Dark Shadows ran from 1966 to 1971, as a daytime serial. Since then, it has inspired two theatrical releases: House of Dark Shadows and Night of Dark Shadows in 1970 and 1971; a prime time series on NBC in 1991; a highly praised pilot for the WB in 2004; a widely released, big budget movie starring Johnny Depp in 2012; and a sequel series is in development for the CW as we speak. We include every genre of Dark Shadows in our Dark Shadows Cast Reunions.

Our fundraiser, is to collect donations in order to have a Dark Shadows event in Los Angeles, California in August of 2020. Our event will have Dark Shadows celebrities, autographs, and more. Previously, Dark Shadows Cast Reunions, has held two successful events at Tarrytown, New York (2013) and Norwalk, Connecticut (2015). These events were attended by a huge array of Dark Shadows fans, friends and celebrities. Within our events, we have also raised money for donations to the Estate of Lyndhurst (New York) and the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion (both of which are historically protected properties) which are filming locations for the original Dark Shadows theatrical releases, House and Night of Dark Shadows. Please see our website at www.darkshadowscastreunions.weebly.com. for pictures and info from previous events.

Our ultimate fundraising goal is $3000. This goal will cover all overhead involved in the event including funds for renting the event space.

Because we want to give back to our donors, the following extras can be had by donating certain amounts:

For a $25 donation, the donor will receive a 66 full card set of the 2001 Dark Shadow Trading cards (Orange borders, sold only at Dark Shadows Festivals)*

For a $50 donation, the donor will receive a 66 full card set of the 2001 Dark Shadows Trading Cards plus a 6 card subset, designed for autographs*

For a $75 donation, the donor will receive a 66 full card set of the 2001 Dark Shadows Trading Cards, a 6 card subset and 10% off one (1) admission ticket to the 2020 Dark Shadows Cast Reunion Event*

For a $100 donation or more, the donor will receive a 66 full card set of the 2001 Dark Shadows Trading Cards, a 6 card subset and 50% off one (1) admission ticket to the 2020 Dark Shadows Cast Reunion Event.*

For those of you who can’t contribute, please spread the word of our fundraiser with Go Fund Me sharing tools.

Thank you so very much for your donations to help bring this event to fruition.

The blogger in question was based on yesterday’s post – Wednesday Weirdness: The Disappearance of Tom Eggleton — From the Pen of Mae Clair; original post: https://maeclair.net/2020/02/12/wednesday-weirdness-the/. I noticed on her blog she had posts about Dark Shadows and in commenting back and forth, I came across the GoFundMe campaign above.
