On February 5, 2020, I saved a draft of a re-blog I planned on using later. It used an image copyrighted by a major movie studio. I would have removed it when I posted it to avoid copyright problems. The studio is very protective of its copyright. The original post included the name of a main character from the book it was based on.
I waited to see if the post was going to stay up. At the minimum, I expected it would lose the image. At worst, the blogger would take it down. I checked the link today and it was removed. I suspect the studio had issues with the image and the reference to the character.
Personally, I didn’t think it should be an issue as the use could easily fall under “fair use.” However, the cost of proving it would have bankrupted the blogger. I believe the blogger made a smart move in taking it down.
Cases like this one are why I stress copyright so much on my blog.
