Facebook Spoofing – February 17, 2020

I will be posting this on Facebook shortly. If  you are friends with someone on Facebook, they can’t send you a friend request. I regularly hear people say the friend has been hacked. No, they have been spoofed. Easy way to verify is to try and send your friend a request using their account that’s already connected to your account.

I have three dead friends I did not remove from my friend list on Facebook.  Each has sent me a new friend request. They didn’t notice or care the person was dead. I ignored the requests. I always check my friend list before accepting a new friend to make sure they are not on my list.

I encourage everyone to do likewise. I have my privacy settings as restricted as Facebook will allow. Unfortunately, that’s nowhere near restricted enough. I almost never approve new requests.

I routinely set old posts to private. Most of my posts are set to friends only except my blog posts.

I expect to be spoofed in the next few days as it been a long time since my last one.
