Genealogical DNA Testing Companies and Current DNA Sales January 2, 2020

Over 1,000 words. If you are interested in a specific company, scroll down to it and see its current price.

As always, check prices before you order! You can also check EBay and Amazon in case you find a lower price there, but make sure it’s for the same company and test. Some of the companies show an end date for their sale prices, but many don’t. Amazon loves to raise and lower prices on DNA tests on a somewhat regular basis, usually every few days for some of the major companies, bit less often for other companies. For EBay and Amazon purchases, always activate the test as soon as you get it to avoid problems.

Updated January 3, 2020 – removed the Sticky as new post going up later tonight.

Made adjustments as some sales ended. MyHeritageDNA has $59 sale that ends in 4 days. FamilyTree DNA (FTDNA) Sale ends today. National Geographic Geno 2.0 Next Project ended December 31, 2019. $49 kit still available. I checked each link below about 45 minutes ago. Still monitoring daily the sites below, but will only post an update if there are changes like the one I found today – most likely next post will be tomorrow as some sales will end today. I expect the sales to taper off after the current sales end. The next major sale will be around DNA Day (April). Some companies may do intermittent sales after their current sales end, between now and DNA Day. Update to the last post Genealogical DNA Testing Companies and Current DNA Sales December 30, 2019.

Monthly DNA price list for January 2020 Current January 2020 DNA Prices January 1, 2020. That will cover many of the lesser known DNA companies. Amazon often has great deals for some of the DNA companies around Black Friday/Cyber Monday.

Ancestry Health Core: (Not Available in NY, NJ, RI, or Guam), regular price $149.00. Check other vendors, but make sure you register the kit as soon as you get it if you go this route, on Amazon as sometimes they are cheaper than the listed Amazon price in the link. The reason to activate immediately is in case someone used a stolen credit card to buy the kit.

Geno 2.0 Next Update June 1, 2019 – National Geographic and Helix have stopped offering kits – see National Geographic Geno Project DNA Ending. Temporarily, Amazon still has some kits available – Amazon  unavailable as of January 2, 2020) – price tends to change every few days. Be aware December 31, 2019 is the last day to submit samples to Helix for processing this particular kit. No word if it has to be received by Helix by that date or be in the mail. At this point, I would check with Helix before ordering this test.

Helix – some tests, like Mayo Clinic Gene Guide, are on sale, but many aren’t (direct link to Helix list of most DNA tests offered, but it’s not the complete list as some are only listed in other parts of the Helix site); Amazon list of Helix tests doesn’t include all Helix items listed on the Helix site so you may need to search for specific tests or items if you are checking Amazon for something not in the above Amazon link. Rest of Helix DNA tests are regular price and Helix kits are regular price of $80.00 if you need a Helix DNA kit for an individual. However, Helix sometimes does limited sales so check any test you are considering to see if it’s on sale.

MyHeritageDNA sale price $59.00 (ends January 6, 2020), $79.00 regular price; Amazon for $79.00* (still valid as of  January 2, 2020) with free shipping; Health, sale proice $149.00, regular price $199.00on Amazon –, regular price $199 with free shipping. GroupOn (for MyHeritageDNA only, not the Health add-on): sale price $48.00 (regular GroupOn price tends to be $55), available as of January 2, 2020. MyHeritageDNA accepts free limited transfers from FTDNA as well as from AncestryDNA, LivingDNA, and 23andMe (including v5 chip now). They made some major changes to those who upload raw data transfers after November 30, 2018; it won’t affect you if you uploaded your raw data before December 16, 2018 as they are grandfathering in people who uploaded raw data before December 16, 2018 and they will retain full access. Free limited transfer of raw data from many other DNA companies although if you have a paid MyHeritage subscription, the full upgrade is free.

Rite Aid: 23andMe KIT ONLY $28.99 (lab fees are $70 or $170 depending on if you want health reports). Promo Code (online only) – no Promo Code  (Promo Code and discount change on a regular basis). Still available as of January 2, 2020.

Sequencing: New sale – sale price $49.00, .regular price $149.00. You need to sign up for 3 months of Silver, Gold, or Platinum membership (annual membership is cheaper, but if you are not sure you want to go that route, monthly membership is available. If you cancel before the third month, you will be charged a penalty. Promo Code 2020 is 20% off most things, not counting the $49.00 discount above and a few other things.

TeloYears regular prices for some things, but a limited time sale price for other things (price still valid as of January 2, 2020 although sale items vary from time to time). TeloYears Health regular price $99; TeloYears Health + Ancestry $169 (regular price $199, but seems to be a standard discount as opposed to a sale price). They also do the TribeCode tests. Not available on Amazon.

Current sales:

Health Reports for diet, fitness, and supplementation + Ancestry + free 15 minute nutritional phone consultation. Regular price $99; on sale for $79. Believe this is the same report available on Amazon: (temporarily unavailable as of January 2, 2020, but usually shows back up on Amazon at some point)- price may or may not be cheaper on Amazon as they love to raise and lower the prices on a regular basis.
