I don’t know if you guys remember but I upgraded my plan to Premium when I reached 10k and then stupidly upgraded again to Business which was a horrible idea and almost destroyed this blog I had worked so hard for. A lot of people do decide to upgrade their plan for the new year […]

You are welcome. When you get part 2 done, I will re-blog it as I plan on upgrading at some point. I have the free plan right now, but some of what I want to do requires me upgrading to the Business plan. I expect it will take a couple of years to start making money going that route, but with the two cheaper paid plans, there are some things I can’t do. Figure if I am going to spend the money,

Yeah like if you plan on installing plugins you’ll need the Business Plan. Good luck with the upgrading and hope the posts help!

It did. The only reason I am considering the Business Plan is to monetize my blog, it’s the cheapest option. One day, years from now, I would go with the most expensive plan if I ever get my YouTube channel off the ground.
A word of caution, install plug-in updates one at a time. I had a paid plan through a reseller. Did several plug-in updates at once. One killed my old blog. I had stopped using the reseller and they wouldn’t help me. The plug-in site wouldn’t help me, but from the error message, it was their plug-in causing me to not use my blog. I was glad I backed up my blog to my computer shortly before doing the update. I restored most of my posts. Don’t think it included the Likes or Follows, but small price to pay.

Yeah I think a Business Plan would be best for that and good luck with YouTube!
Yeah you have to be very careful. I lost a few of my likes and comments from some of my posts because of a problem with downgrading and I learnt my lesson!

I doubt WordPress will consider it, but I would prefer a monthly plan where I spend a bit more/month than the yearly plan monthly average price.
I considered going with one of the resellers – GoDaddy, BlueHost, as they offer a good deal on your first sign-up, but when you renew, it’s cheaper to switch back to WordPress. You may risk losing Likes and Comments switching back.

You are welcome. I re-blogged it several hours ago. I think your PayPal button is a smart move. Even smarter because you went with $1 increments. A few bloggers go with a lot higher increments ($10+) which are less likely to generate as much support.
