Stanly County Museum, Albemarle – North Carolina Thursdays December 5, 2019

Heading back east from western North Carolina for this week’s North Carolina Thursdays post. I found myself looking in the Albemarle area and ran across the Stanly County Museum, Albemarle:

The Stanly County Museum ( in Albemarle tells the history of the area with rotating exhibits covering topics such as education and medicine. A French company came to the Albemarle area in 1913 to generate electricity from the nearby Yadkin River. The town of Badin, seven miles northeast of Albemarle, formed to house the workers. Badin Historic Museum ( explains how the town grew. The museum operates two other venues. The Badin Firehouse Museum holds memorabilia and artifacts, including a 1937 firetruck. The Quadruplex Museum reconstructs what a 1915 home looked like with period pieces.
