I visited Mount Rushmore around 1974 as we were visiting my sister whose husband was stationed at Ellsworth AFB at the time. Would like to see the monument is going.

I did, but they were lost in one of my moves as this was long before the Internet made saving them easy. Would like to go back and take some more.
I was disappointed as we weren’t allowed to get too close. I believe there are trails where you can get close from someone who visited many decades later. Don’t know if they were there in 1974.
