Find-A-Grave regularly has people show up as suggested memorials to check out. They can be Famous or not famous. One of today’s suggestions was Lt. General Thomas John Hall Trapnell (born November 23, 1902, died February 13, 2002, age 99) – https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/6182963/thomas-john_hall-trapnell. I was not familiar with his story. I try to read the Bios when I click on a Find-A-Grave. memorial as well as leave a flower or token. He also has a Wikipedia article – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_J._H._Trapnell.
He was assigned to the Philippine Scouts in 1939, led the last tactical cavalry charge of the U. S. Army during the invasion of the Philippines by the Japanese, survived the Bataan Death March, managed to survive having two Japanese POW ships sunk while he was on them. Both Find-A-Grave and Wikipedia have a lot more of his story in the above links.
