What’s Not in an Obituary – October 30, 2019

In my earlier post today – Is It a Given Name or Nickname? – October 30, 2019, I talked about my friend’s Aunt Penny. What’s missing from her obituary and Find-A-Grave memorial – https://www.legacy.com/obituaries/name/janice-beard-obituary?pid=187925902 ; her Find-A-Grave memorial: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/186830062/janice-kaye-beard, are a couple of items.

First, what surname is she going to be buried under: Sippel (her second deceased husband’s surname), Beard (her first husband’s surname who died later in the year), or something else? The funeral home and cemetery list her under Beard, but that doesn’t mean the headstone will match. Next, the lack of mention of her first husband in the obituary. Likewise, in his obituary (found on his memorial)  and Find-A-Grave memorial – https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/192433096/manley-beard, she is not mentioned. It mentions his current wife. Both obits mentions the son I referenced in the earlier post. They spell the first name differently, but it’s the same individual and both obituaries also mention another son.
