What if We Could Interview Doctors Before Scheduling an Appointment? — The Disabled Diva’s Blog

How many times have had an appointment with a new doctor only to have them ignore, dismiss, or laugh at your symptoms and concerns? What if you could interview doctors before scheduling an appointment?

I support this position as too many doctors I would not have seen the first time if I could interview them first.

That would be so nice if that can be done

    • Had to argue for months with my doctor when he wanted to order a colonoscopy while I was awake. Told him – been there, done that once which was one time too many. I wore him down around month 3. He realized I wasn’t budging on my position. Eventually got it done while snoring peacefully away under the knock-out gas.

      • It depends on the doctor, but many prefer you awake. In my case, the first time they found polyps and they can’t give your colon knock-out gas so I was awake when they removed them. I have a strong pain threshold and even before they found the polyps, it was getting uncomfortable. I wasn’t told I would be awake for the procedure, or I would done research with the limits of 20+ years ago.

I have a poor memory, but I do recall the pain getting bad enough the memory stayed with me. This was back in 1995. Fast forward to 2018, the doctor at least told me he wanted me awake. I didn’t care if they found polyps or not, I wanted to be snoring loudly while they were poking in my guts. They also did a throat scope, but that’s tolerable although I was asleep by the time they started it this time.
