Attending Funeral Today September 6, 2019

By the time this posts, the funeral will be over as it’s scheduled for 12 Noon and I can’t imagine it lasting 4 hours. I checked Find-A-Grave the other day and she had not been added as the obituaries did not list a cemetery. When I checked yesterday, I saw she was added on September 3, 2019.

I haven’t attended many funerals over the years – my paternal grandfather, my parents, my step-father, a few friends, spouses of friends, and church members. The Vice President of the historical/genealogical (hist/gen) society where I volunteer died August 30, 2019. She was also a friend although I didn’t see her much outside the society. I have a ride to the church where the service is going to be held. She was 72, but she looked much younger. I was surprised when somebody mentioned her age a few years back.

For me, this is a reminder we are not guaranteed tomorrow or even living through today. While I expect there is a high probability I will wake up tomorrow, one day I won’t.
