Featured Blogger / Vlogger of the Week Choices

When I pick Featured Blogger / Vlogger of the Week each week, I try to do a mix around several levels. First, I start with my blog description of coverage, but merging them into fewer topics –

Migrated my old blog here. Content – Eclectic Mix of Genealogy, Bipolar Depression, Mental Health, Mental Illness, DNA, History, First Nations (aka Native Americans), Military History, World War II, Cemeteries, CrowdFunding, Authors/Writing, and Gaming (RPGs, Board Games, Wargames, etc.).

I tend to merge the following topics into groups:

  • Genealogy, DNA;
  • Bipolar Depression, Mental Health, Mental Illness;
  • First Nations / Native American;
  • Military History, World War II.
  • History that’s not First Nations / Native American or Military History is its own category.
  • Cemeteries are a separate category unless they are a military cemetery.
  • Museums, Ship Museums tend to go under History or Military History category
  • Other – for bloggers / vloggers who don’t fit in any of the above categories

Next, I try to vary the category choices from week to week. Some weeks that works great and others not so great. I added a new topic of Other. That’s for bloggers and vloggers who don’t fit in the topics I cover. There are a number of individuals I follow that would be excluded if I hadn’t added the new bullet point above (last one), and from my perspective it’s not fair to exclude them for that reason alone.

It can be difficult because some of the above choices don’t have a lot of bloggers or vloggers that cover a topic. For example, there are a handful of cemetery bloggers/vloggers even if I stretch it to include those involved in the cemetery field like funeral homes, morticians, etc. Museums and Ship Museums are another case pickings are slim although some do talk about these items even if it’s not a main focus of their blog  or vlog.

I also try to spread the experience level of bloggers and vloggers. I may pick somebody who only recently started their vlog or blog. When possible, I include links to other social media if they have added the information to their site. My suggestion is to include other social media links on your site if you use other social media. For example, this week’s Featured Blogger of the Week A. R. Jung – Featured Blogger of the Week July 26, 2019, included several social media links that she added to her blog.I also added her Amazon author page.
