23andMe Amazon Prime Sale July 15 – 16, 2019

This is an update to my earlier post, 23andMe V3 – V5 Upgrade Price $125. In that post, I made the point, I was not going to pay $125 for an upgrade when they would simply run my old DNA sample they already had. I don’t see the benefit in them earning a higher profit margin on an existing sample. I have a post going live at 2:02 P. M. U. S. Central Time that shows the various DNA Sales as of today, including 23andMe https://www.amazon.com/23andMe-DNA-Test-Ancestry-collection/dp/B01G7PYQTM?smid=A1KWJVS57NX03I (not an affiliate link) is offering its Ancestry+Health test (regular price $199) to Amazon Prime Members for $99 July 15 – 16, 2019. That’s a much better deal than the $125 to upgrade my existing kit, plus it cuts into their profit margin deeper. I don’t see the sense of rewarding 23andMe for paying the upgrade price of $125 when they aren’t providing me a new spit kit. I could squeeze out the money to pay for one month of Amazon Prime and order the kit, but that’s cutting my budget tighter than I like. No doubt 23andMe will offer $99 – $149 sale prices one or more times this year. If nothing else, they should offer a sizeable upgrade discount for those of us who haven’t upgraded as compensation.
