If you weren’t familiar with kincrawler.com (link doesn’t work), it was a genealogy version of a search engine/web crawler. I was poking around on Facebook last night and saw a comment that it had shut down. If you go to https://www.facebook.com/kincrawler/, scroll down a bit, a post was made May 19, 2019 announcing the shut down.
He may come back. I would encourage him to try Patreon, Ko-fi, Buymeacoffee, and possibly other crowdfunding sites, like GoFundMe, as a way to cover costs. He could also add a PayPal donation button as another way people could contribute to keeping the site up.
